Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 3, 2025
At The Garvey Classroom, we believe in protecting the dignity and privacy of every member of our community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have as a visitor or user of our site.
Who We Are
Our website address is: https://thegarveyclassroom.com
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible to the public in context with your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from uploaded images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter your details for future comments. These cookies will last one year.
- When you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will determine if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser is closed.
- When you log in, we set up cookies to save login info and display preferences. Login cookies last two days. If you choose “Remember Me,” they persist for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
- If you edit or publish an article, another cookie will be saved in your browser, indicating the post ID. It expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, articles, images). Embedded content from other sites behaves as if you visited that site directly.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction, especially if you have an account and are logged in to those sites.
Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We do not sell or trade your personal information.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
For users who register (if applicable), we store the personal data they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time—except for their username. Website administrators can also access and edit that information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided.
You may also request that we erase your personal data. This does not include data we must retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
To make a data request, email us at info@thegarveyclassroom.com
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Children’s Privacy
The Garvey Classroom is designed for general audiences, including parents and educators. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware of such data, we delete it promptly.
Security
We are committed to protecting your information. We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard your data.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
