The Garvey Method
develops the habits of mind young people need to thrive in the age of AI.
Through the life and ideas of Marcus Garvey, young people learn to use the methodical thinking habits that Marcus Garvey used as a writer, editor, and publisher of the Negro World and the leader of the largest mass movement of Black people in the twentieth century. These habits of mind are critical skills that students will need in the age of AI: close reading, evidence-based reasoning, critical analysis, and original thought.

Movement One begins with Observe.
Students learn to slow down before accepting an answer. To separate what they actually see from what they assume. To examine evidence before reaching a conclusion. To put their thinking into their own words.
A Builder’s Mind is about more than preparing children to use new technology.
It prepares them to remain thinkers in a world increasingly shaped by machines.
